Imagine if those terribly cliche game characters retired to become terribly cliche real people.
I was always a huge fan of Dhalsim, even though from what I learned in Becoming the Champion, (reviewed here) he was a pretty bad choice if you actually cared about winning.
I know it wasn't the main point of your post, but just to note, Dhalsim is a very good character in two of the Street Fighter games - the original World Warrior and the last of that series, Super Turbo. The winner of the Evolution 2006 tournament for SF Anniversary used ST Dhalsim.

Well there you go. Glad to see the designers worked to ensure Dhalsim could hold his own in later versions of the game. Because he's definitely the coolest, and therefor he SHOULD be the best :)
